Mimic the Muse: Helen Mirren

by Madeleine Borgersen

I’m going to come out and say there is no sexier senior than Dame Helen Mirren. If I look like that at her age, I will be pinching myself, heck if I looked like that now, I’d be pinching myself. Here’s how to recreate her stunning makeup look.

Mimic the Muse: Helen Mirren

With her gorgeous subtle glow and stunning complexion Dame Helen Mirren is always the one to watch at any red carpet event.

She has the confidence that comes with her age and a gorgeous smile that just blows any younger actresses out of the water. Here’s how to get your Mirren Glow on any time of the year!

1. Mix-in a Little Sparkle

Add a little illuminator to your liquid foundation. This will give you a subtle glow-from-within. Try the Stila illuminators or MAC’s Strobe cream for a subtle luminosity.

For foundation obviously one that you love and suits your skin. For older ladies the By Terry foundations are fantastic as they offer a lift and plumping to energise the skin and show you at your best.

A brightening concealer under the eyes in a ‘V’ shape will kick any dark circles or puffiness to the curb.

2. Rosy cheeks

One quick way to re-energise older skin is by adding a little blush. Opt for a light pink or rose colour and apply gradually higher on the cheek to give the appearance of a more lifted face.

3. Defined Eyes

Keep your eyes defined by lining the upper lash line (tightline if you can! this is where you line the inside of the lashline so between the lashes and the eyeball) with a dark brown pencil. The dark brown will give you definition without being too heavy.

Keep your mascara to the top lashes and opt for more matte shades in the eyeshadow department to prevent you taking the look from gorgeous glow to disco ball.

4. Satin Lips

Rather than a super glossy lipstick or super ‘stick in your lines’ matte opt for a satin finish lipstick that will add to your all-over glow and keep those lips looking smooth.

The Chantecaille Hydra Lipsticks are the perfect finish and keep those puckers hydrated the whole day through!

Thanks for the “v shape” tip regards concealer for under eyes. It works!
