Mimic the Muse: Leslie Knope

by Madeleine Borgersen

I have to be honest. I’m still not over the fact that Parks & Recreation is over. I love Leslie Knope and Little Sebastian. Always have, always will. If you’re a Leslie fan too, here’s how to keep the memory alive by recreating her makeup look.

Mimic the Muse: Leslie Knope

Leslie always wore a purple smokey eye and either nude or pink lip. Because I love a bright lip I’ve opted for this today.

1. Basic Base

Opt for a tinted moisturiser or natural finish foundation. Something like CoverGirl’s Tru Blend is perfect because it will blend seamlessly into your skin giving you the flawless complexion Leslie is know for (such a perfectionist!) whilst avoiding that Saturday Night out at the club look.

Use a brightening concealer like Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Concealer to brighten your under eyes to prevent the heavier lid colour from looking too full on for the office.

Ms Knope isn’t shy of a good blusher. Pick out a pink blush to give those cheeks a pop bringing the colour up and out to align with the outside of your eye. This gives you colour and a light contour as we won’t be wearing bronzer or illuminator with this look.

2. Blended Eyes

Create Leslie’s signature purple smokey eye in two seconds with Covergirl’s new Bombshell ShineShadows. They’re a cream base so blend super easily and come in a range of colours. You can then add a darker purple to your crease and a smudge-friendly eyeliner like L’Oreal Voluminous Smouldering Liner on your lash line to give you definition but not be too intense.

A volumising and thickening mascara like Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde (is at priceline now just not on their site!) over the top lashes will turn you into Leslie in a few quick coats.

3. Pucker Up Pink

Go for a bright pop of pink like MAC’s Candy Yum Yum or NARS Yu and a lashing of gloss (if you’re into it!) and voila! You are now the office’s favourite looking lady a la Leslie Knope.
