Pricey vs Priceline: Eyeshadow Primer

by Madeleine Borgersen

Eyeshadow slipping away or creasing by lunch? You might need an eyeshadow primer? Here are our favourite top end and low end picks to help you decide!

Pricey vs Priceline: Eyeshadow Primer

Pricey: NARS – Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Primer – $28

Eyeshadow primers do just that, prime the eye area before you add any eyeshadow to increase both their colour payoff and longevity and reduce smudging, creasing or caking.

There are a few in the higher end bracket, NARS being my favourite of them. The finish is super velvety, it goes on a dream blending out quickly and easily and it does exactly what it says it will.

Created with a special deep-sea extract and an antioxidant rice extract, the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base dries instantly.

The NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Primer is also truly invisible. The Too Faced and Urban Decay primers still have some colour attached to them so if you’re looking for a base that definitely has zero colour, the NARS is for you.

Dang! I was all ready to try the ELF and then I read about the oily eyelids (I end up with an eyeshadow crease even with the most careful of priming), so looks like it will be the NARS I try next (I will have high expectations!!)
