Quick Tips to Whiten & Brighten Your Smile

by Madeleine Borgersen

Today, March 20 is World Oral Health day an awesome chance to buy that replacement toothbrush or give your teeth a little extra loving. Wondering how to whiten and brighten those teeth easily? Here are our top tips!

Quick Tips to Whiten & Brighten Your Smile

1. Brush Morning & Night

Remove built up plaque and whiten with a good brush morning and night with a whitening toothpaste. Manual or electrical toothbrush, that’s your pick (I know Eivind can’t stand electric toothbrushes and I absolutely love them!) but it’s important to brush for at least 2 minutes a day (pop a song on and brush until it finishes to keep you occupied) and use short strokes on a 45 degree angle to your gums rather than long wide strokes that will damage your gums.

2. Eat Strawberries

Full of folic acid, stawberries are the perfect after meal treat naturally exfoliating and cleaning your teeth. Don’t have a toothbrush handy after a boozy lunch? Count on a punnet of strawberries to whiten that smile.

3. Rinse

If you’re looking for a healthier, brighter and whiter smile you really need to introduce a mouth wash into your daily routine.

Listerine is a great pick for mouthwash as it’s antibacterial, killing 99% of the germs that lead to bad breath, controls plaque and strengthens your teeth’s enamel.

As a total mouth wash it combines Eucalyptus, Thymol, Methyl Salicylate and Menthol to break down plaque from the inside out.

4. Floss

Self-confession. I used to hate flossing. It hurt my sensitive teeth and gums and just took too long. Now? It’s a no brainer.

You might be wondering what changed and it’s one simple thing. I switched from the traditional string floss to the Philips Air Floss. Fill it with Listerine and it will shoot a high pressure shot of air and mouthwash dislodging food particles and built up plaque. Fun, fast and effective!

5. Opt for Blue Toned Lipsticks

For an instant whitening effect opt for a lipstick with a blue undertone. A blue based Red lippie will be opposite to the warm-based tones, like orange and yellow, making your teeth instantly look whiter and brighter in comparison.
