Pricey vs Priceline: Charcoal Cleansing Masks

by Madeleine Borgersen

Activated Charcoal Cleansing Masks are the ants of the skin care world. With activated charcoal able to absorb five hundred times it’s weight it is the perfect ingredient to include in your skin care routine.

Pricey vs Priceline: Charcoal Cleansing Masks

Activated charcoal is made by heating regular charcoal in the presence of a gas that causes the charcoal to become porous. These pores are what help the charcoal attract and trap impurities in the skin making it an amazing choice for a heavy duty cleansing mask.

Pricey: Origins – Clear Improvement – $49

I love Origins skincare and their Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Cleansing Mask definitely keeps that love affair going.

A nice light mask that you can apply in the shower and leave on whilst you sing a few Whitney classics this mask will kick out any environmental toxins, debris or jammed in makeup that you’ve gained in your travels.

The Activated Charcoal in this cleansing mask works like a magnate drawing out even the most stubborn of impurities. A definite shower caddy addition for a super clean and fresh face.

Priceline: Sanctuary Spa – Deep Cleanse Facial 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask – $19.99

The Sanctuary Spa Charcoal Cleansing Mask uses the same charcoal as a key ingredient to banish impurities and make your skin shine. Teamed up with essential oils to soothe the skin and rebalance your skin’s oil levels it’s a great pick for anyone battling skin congestion or blemishes.

The Sanctuary Spa Detox is used once weekly the same as the Origins Clear Improvement. What is different however is that the Sanctuary Spa warms as you place it onto the skin. Yep, it’s like being in a spa with a hot towel being placed over your skin.

The Verdict:

I have to admit to loving both of these products and will definitely continue to use them. The Origins is more of a quick mask in the shower when I don’t have time. The Sanctuary Spa for those Saturday nights in when I feel like some pampering. Not because it takes any longer but it just feels so nice.

In terms of results I found the Sanctuary Spa left my skin feeling lighter, softer and more supple probably due to the included oils. If I could only choose one? The Sanctuary Spa hands down!
