The BookLook: The Rosie Project

by Madeleine Borgersen

I took the opportunity of visiting my parents over the Easter weekend to read a book. Not a kindle book, a real book – and it was amazing!

The BookLook: The Rosie Project

The Rosie Project was one I found at Kmart and grabbed straight away because of the cover. Orange obviously works.

As soon as I started reading I was immediately drawn in. The story recaps the journey a 30-something year old lecturer from Melbourne takes to find love. As he puts it, his brain is wired differently to other people. He has Asperger’s syndrome and as he has difficulties in understanding and following social norms he decides to simply find love the scientific way – with a questionnaire.

He doesn’t, however, anticipate meeting Rosie. A carefree bar tender in a gay bar that fails his questionnaire three-fold.

The story is charming, clever and so well written you cannot not read it.

A definite recommendation for anyone that hasn’t picked up a book in a while and wants a great story to bring them back.
