Mimic the Muse: Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung. She’s synonymous with perfect winged liner and that effortless chic. Here’s how to recreate her classic 60’s look for yourself with only a few products.

Mimic the Muse: Alexa Chung

Everything about Alexa Chung’s look is dewy and effortless. Keeping that in mind we’re going to opt for more liquids and cream products in this look.

1. Keep The Base Simple

Go for a dewy foundation like NARS Sheer Glow, Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum or Chanel Vita Lumiere. Apply it with a foundation brush to keep the application light and even. If you’re a little on the rounder side (like me) you can still give your cheeks a light contour with a cream contour like Tom Ford or Hourglass.

Alexa Chung’s blush is often light. Try one of the Stila cream blushes in Lilium or Gerbera.

2. 60’s Eyes

Despite what you may first notice, Alexa Chung has more going on than just the perfectly executed liner. To keep it simple opt for a creamy eyeshadow stick like Covergirl or Bobbi Brown. Take a lighter colour all across the lid, blending out any harsh lines and then a deeper colour through the eye socket to contour the eye softly. You can add this deeper colour to your lower lash line also for a smokey, night time look.

Now for the liner! As a spokeswoman for Eyeko, Alexa Chung has made her own line of liners just for her signature look. The eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner is perfect. It’s a fantastic liquid liner that’s easy to apply (well for liquid liner, it’s seriously just practice girls!) and stays all day.

Next lather both lashes; top and bottom with an intense volumising mascara. Chantecaille’s is my favourite at the moment or Lancome Hypnose Drama is always a favourite for this style of look.

3. Nudey Lips

Keep the lips soft and natural with a light pink or brown nude. Maybelline’s new Colour Sensation Stripped Nudes are perfect as are the Kardashian Beauty, line (I may be addicted to Honey Nude!)

There you have it! Give your concealer a little setting powder if you need it but best to keep it glowy and natural. Don’t forget if you recreate the look definitely take a selfie and tag us on instagram @TheDailyMark – we’d love to see!

  3. […] Alexa Chung needs little introduction; all tousled hair and a model stare. A marvellous career and a proud member of the self-named Mulberry handbag club. (I do wonder what she keeps in that lovely bag of hers. I imagine some cigarettes, maybe ballet shoes, Lucas’ pawpaw and some eyeliner. And maybe some more cigarettes. Anyway, this book won’t confirm my suspicions, but it will give you a glimpse into her lovely head). […]

  4. Chantecaille mascara is fabulous! I have very long eyelashes (top and bottom lids) and before finding Chantecaille I avoided wearing mascara as I either ended up looking like a a drag queen or a panda. This product stays put and covers the lashes without fattening them up or making them look spidery. I have auburn hair and the Brun Noir works well. A little expensive but better than buying two mascaras that I never wear.
