Pricey vs Priceline: Beauty Sponge

by Madeleine Borgersen

Beauty Sponges are the secret to flawless finish foundation. The perfect partner for your favourite liquid base, a beauty sponge is the must-have tool for that airbrushed finish.

Pricey vs Priceline: Beauty Sponge

A beauty sponge can give you a perfect finish on your liquid foundation. The trick to beauty sponge applications is dampening the sponge first.

Wet the sponge, squeezing repeatedly under a running tap allowing the sponge to absorb and swell. Then squeeze out any excess water.

Squeeze a little foundation onto the back of your hand and dab the beauty sponge lightly into it. Start applying the product to your face from the middle out in a light tapping motion, otherwise known in the beauty world as ‘stippling’.

This stippling technique will give you a flawless ‘second skin’ finish by massaging the product into the skin.

Most beauty sponges are egg shaped offering a wider end for all over application and a narrow end for precision spots like around the nose and under your eyes.

It’s recommended to clean and air dry beauty sponges after every use to keep them hygienic.
