Skin School: Ceramide

by Madeleine Borgersen

Ceramide are molecules found in the cell membranes of the skin. They’re like the mortar in the brick wall that is our skin, holding everything together and forming a protective layer that plumps the skin and retains moisture.

Skin School: Ceramide

Ceramide in skin care products replenish the naturally occurring lipids in the skin that are lost due to environmental factors and ageing. Using ceramide based products restores moisture to the skin, improves it’s protective layer, guarding it from free radicals.

Ceramides are also amazing for eczema sufferers soothing and protecting the skin whilst adding moisture. Ceramides can also be drastically depleted when the skin suffers from sun damage so a great Cermide-filled lotion is the perfect tip to restore the balance of ceramides in the skin and bring back that moisture and protection.
