Skin School: Vitamin B3 or Niacinamide

Niacinamide is a skincare super hero. Hydrating, anti-ageing and pigmentation busting!

Niacinamide not only prevents your skin from losing moisture it also increases ceramides (the glue that holds skin cells together) and fatty acids. It also stimulates circulation and has been shown to reduce pigmentation and blemishes. Amazing!

Niacinamide adds softness, suppleness and hydration to your skin, perfect for the cooler months. It stops the skin from losing moisture by strengthening the skin’s natural barrier of fatty acids and ceramides. This barrier also prevents bacteria getting into the skin meaning it’s a great ingredient for acne-prone skin.

Niacinamide is also a great weapon against anti-ageing. The main sign of ageing, sagging skin is due to a gradual loss of collagen and elastin combining in fibroblasts. Niacinamide stimulates new fibroblasts, slowing down the ageing process.

Suffering from an uneven skin tone? Niacinamide can help with that too! Hyper-pigmentation is caused by an overproduction of melanin that gradually moves closer to the skin’s surface as we naturally exfoliate layers. Instead of inhibiting melanin production (as ingredients like Vitamin C do) Niacinamide prevents the melanin creeping up towards the skin’s surface.
