So you know you should be using an eye cream, you may not know why, but you’ve read a few magazines and you just know that it’s the done thing if you want to avoid premature eye drooping.
But do you know how to apply eye cream? The eye area has some of the thinnest and most sensitive skin on the body (this is why it needs it’s own specially formulated cream, it isn’t just a money making ploy). Too much tugging and pulling will end up causing the area more damage. Here’s how to apply eye cream the easy way to treat your eyes like a queen.
1. Cleanse First
Like any skincare you want to apply it to a freshly cleansed face. This ensures the cream can best reach deep into the layers of your skin and work it’s magic.
2. Apply around your eye, not on it
Moisturiser can travel once applied so although you may notice wrinkles forming right near your eyeball, resist applying your new hydrating, anti-aging, inner youth, eye perfecting plasma to that spot directly. One it will sting like a mother and two it will probably up and move to somewhere you don’t have those wrinkles. Instead, apply your cream around 2cm away from the eye both above (just under your eyebrow) and below. This will surround the whole area and give those wrinkles no where to hide.
3. Play Dot to Dot
Dap a pea size amount between your two fingers and apply the cream around each eye in a series of dots. You want to surround the eye evenly to avoid over moisturising some areas and treating others like the Sahara.
4. Put A Ring On It
Apply your eye cream with your ring finger. The ring finger is the weakest of the bunch and that means you’re less likely to be rough with that sensitive skin. Tap the cream in lightly and allow it to soak in. No tugging, no pulling, no pain!
If you watched The Notebook and your eyes are all puffy pop an eye cream in the fridge. Not only will the cool cream soothe your skin it will also help to de-puff-daddy them in no time!
