The A – Z of Vitamin C Serums

by Madeleine Borgersen

Vitamin C is possibly my favourite ingredient when it comes to a good serum. Pigmentation busting and collagen boosting to boot it promises a brighter and tighter complexion in only a few drops per day!

The A - Z of Vitamin C Serums

Vitamin C is the skincare world’s all rounder; an antioxidant shield, an anti-ageing master, a soother of inflammation and irritations and a top fighter against pigmentation it’s one serum that suits almost any skin type.

Vitamin C, or Ascorbic acid (also known as L-ascorbic acid) is the most popular form of Vitamin C in the skin care world.

The most important thing to keep in mind when adding Vitamin C to your routine is that, as an ingredient, it is quite sensitive. It’s really easily inactivated (chemically speaking it structurally gains a few electrons and inactivates at the drop of a hat).

Active Vitamin C is a miracle worker, inactive Vitamin C, not so much. So it’s important to choose your Vitamin C product carefully to try and gain the safest and most stable form possible to ensure that magical power sticks around long enough for you to finish the bottle.

Tips to keep your Vitamin C active? Store it in a dark cool place and always tighten the lid! Or if you’re like us, choose one of these Vitamin C superstars and keep things nice and easy!
