Rosso Antico The New Aperitivo

by Madeleine Borgersen

As someone with Italian heritage and parents that own restaurants I’ve been a fan of aperitifs since I could pronounce the word.

Rosso Antico The New Aperitivo

Here’s three of my favourite combo’s to turn Rosso Antico into a simple and classic cocktail:

Antichissimo cocktail

  • 1/3 Rosso Antico
  • 1/3 Gin
  • 1/3 Orange Juice
  • Top up with tonic water.

Serve on the rocks with a slice of lemon

Gold Lion (Roawr!)

  • 2/3 Rosso Antico
  • 1/3 Gin
  • Juice of half a lemon, juice of an orange.

Decorate with a twig of mint.

Italian Sunrise (Katut’s favourite too!)

  • 2/5 Rosso Antico
  • 2/5 Dark rum
  • 1/5 Grapefruit Juice

A few drops of orange juice. Shake. Decorate with a cherry.

The possibilites are endless. It’s definitely a new staple to have in your cupboard for a quiet night in over some cheese and antipasti or for the start of a fiesta at your house.

What’s your favourite pre-meal drink? Are you a gin and tonic goer or a more standard beer or sparkling?
