Netflix is Coming to Australia

by Madeleine Borgersen

Netflix is finally coming to our shores. Get ready for some serious TV and movie marathons with thousands of hours of award winning streaming soon to be at your fingertips.

Netflix is Coming to Australia

Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Written by hilarious Tina Fey. It’s a definite must-watch for Netflix subscribers from March 24.

The world’s most popular internet based television network will begin streaming their collections to Australia and New Zealand on 24 March.

With a combination of Netflix signature content (think House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and Arrested Development) and local television and film, they allow any subscriber to stream popular movies and TV shows for one low monthly price tag.

Netflix will be available on all major Australian broadband and iiNet customers get the added bonus of zero stress of going over their monthly data cap with Netflix and iiNet announcing an un-metering agreement meaning none of your Netflix streaming will be counted. Marathon away!

Netflix will also be available inherently on SmartTV’s by Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, HiSense and Philips as well as Fetch TV’s second-generation set-top boxes. For those with gamers in the family you’ll also be able to access the treasure trove of TV via a Sony PlayStation 3 or 4, an Xbox 360 or One or a Nintendo Wii U.

Don’t have any of those? It’s also available on Apple TV’s, Google Chromecast as well as Apple and Android tablets and smartphones.

How to get started!

From March 24 you will be able to purchase a Netflix gift card ($20,$30 and $50) from any Woolworths, Coles, Big W, 7-Eleven, Australia Post or Officeworks to give you access to the amazing content.

Netflix will also offer a range of month to month plans for standard, HD and family users (prices for these will be available closer to launch!)

Edit: Netflix has announced three tiered pricing starting from $8.99/month for access for one device to standard definition content, $11.99 for up to two devices to high definition versions of their library and $14.99 for their fastest, 4k (super high definition) streaming for up to 4 devices. There will also be a 30 day free trial available from the 24th March.

Why we love it

Watch as much TV and movies as you want for one simple price. Watch TV when and where you want, either on the couch in front of the big screen or on any internet-connected tablet or mobile. Play, pause and resume without any commercials and all for one low monthly price.
